I thought I’d quickly share with you these interesting woven samples that I saw today at Bayliss Fabrics produced by The Woven Company. They design woven materials suitable for blinds and shades using grass and bamboo, creating these very interesting pieces. I love the idea of weaving with these kind of materials to create a strong and stable material, which holds so much potential to be a key participator in Eco-textiles.
I believe that fabrics of this type, i.e. produced using traditional methods and sustainable materials, will be important in the future especially due to the ecological impact many leading industries have had on our planet. Through the utilisation of successful designs from the past and combining them with emerging techno-textiles, some very interesting and time appropriate fabrics could be created to help or planet.
