These stunning tiled floors are from The Victoria Building in Sydney. The interior of the building is full of decorative features and is a lovely place to visit, especially if you need some inspiration for a geometric design. Notice the way that the scale of the tiles does not vary much, it is fairly uniform, however through colour, placement and ornate designs, a pattern on a large scale has been created, changing as you travel along it.
An interesting and fun way to test out ideas like these is to cut out lots of small squares of card and rearrange them into different patterns. If you photograph the patterns you create as you go along, you don’t neccessarily need to stick them all down and can produce an infinite amount of designs using the same materials. I hope you enjoy it!
